Our Story

Hi there and welcome to OOMA! I’m so honored that you’ve chosen to spend a bit of time with us here.

OOMA was born out of a challenging pregnancy experienced far from my support system. Although gifts were never my love language of choice, receiving a thoughtful something in the mail during this time reminded me that I was cared for, seen, and understood.

So much of the empathy and generosity I felt as I moved towards motherhood came from women in my life — family and friends, but also strangers in a supermarket line, in the hospital elevator, on the sidewalk.

That’s why I decided to name OOMA after my grandmother Uma (pronounced oo-ma) who gave birth to my mother who gave birth to me. Ultimately, OOMA is about that feeling of female connection and the way generations of women understand each other, care for each other, and pass on tender strength through acts of love.

I hope you have fun exploring OOMA’s beautiful gifts curated to celebrate the women in your life on their journey to and through motherhood.

All of my love,

Paloma

Our Values

Care For Her

When a baby is born, there’s also the birth of a mother — a massive and often undermined physical, emotional, and mental transformation.

We love babies, and there are plenty of wonderful platforms designed for baby gifts. And…this is not one of them. OOMA is for her.

Made by Women

OOMA’s selection of gifts are sourced from female-run businesses that aim to add beauty and comfort to her day-to-day. Many of the artisans we work with are mothers who bring their experiences and their empathy to the products they make.

More Than a Mother

At OOMA, our focus is less on traditional or practical pregnancy and postpartum products, and more on special somethings designed to connect her to the many parts of herself and bring her joy.

Good Old Snail Mail

We’re big fans of the analog world and miss sending and receiving things in the mail — the tactility, the surprise, and the delight of unpacking a thoughtful gesture from a person who cares.

Care for her.
